4hr+ biz law class can really kill


my goodness we had a 4hr+ biz law class today which just sapped whatever remaining energy i had outta me. then after the class ended at abt 7.40pm (!!), had to rush to waikiki meeting and then went for driving. suddenly, huiying's msn nick is kinda true: 24 hrs in a day is not enough. gahhh.



and oh yes, happy 20th bday, hongyi!!
ur turn to leave the teen stage and hit the dreaded big 2.. anw, my day was happy enough i guess except for the extreme hunger i've been feeling ever since 3pm til now. have a great 20th!

of hurricane whirlwinds and gentle continual breezes


there are many ways people enter your lives - some are classmates, CCA mates, friends of friends. some burst into your life and u are captivated by them. some just enter without u knowing. some knock and wait and look around and slowly, u notice them. but i think, there are 2 significant ways they affect you - the hurricane whirlwinds and the gentle continual breezes.


the hurricane whirlwind:
it blows up a storm - hustle and bustle and all that fancy whatnots. u interact a lot - and u think u connect well with the wind.. a whirl of activities is so common in the period the whirlwind is blowing. things happen so fast it's sometimes just flashing in front of you.
the eye of the storm: a brief period of calmness
the wind n u both realise that u have to make plans for other things too. but its just the eye of the storm. a short time later, its back to that. the rush of activities with the whirlwind.
the hurricane whirlwind blows over: (sometimes) all of a sudden, the wind drops its speed and u, accordingly, dropped yours. its not that u lost interest in the wind or vice versa, it's just that, u know, the hurricane has simply blown over. things return to "normal". activity rate drops and accordingly, ur interest in the wind and the wind's interest in you..


the gentle continual breezes:
this is the one where its entry is uncertain - it could be a light breeze, a gust or even a gale. the main point is the way it blows over the duration at which it's blowing at you. things happen gradually - maybe even slowly - but surely. it's just like a gentle breeze.
occasionally it picks up a little speed
things move a little faster, a little more exciting. the wind teases you, u enjoy the wind's company.. it may be long, it may be short. but it's good while it lasted.
eventually, it drops back to that gentle speed
u might even be lulled into believing the breeze will stay forever (or at least, for a very long time). and maybe the breeze might stay. but whatever the case is, it seems like it's always there.


which will u prefer? a maelstrom of rather short-lived activities with the whirlwind or the gentle but continual breeze which picks up the occasional speed?
i pick the gentle breeze - simply because its always there. i dont need things to be so happening, i just want things to be more lasting and not be so transient.


a continual whirlwind? nah, i think that's highly unlikely to happen. ;)

went to watch funkamania on fri and jamx on sat.. and emix and guitarissimo rocked big time but they didnt win. im not being too biased but i really do think g'simo were really good! at any rate, better than the nus team. and smu is really very on.. lots of ppl turned up to support g'simo..


anw, met bain n hongyi on fri for dinner at coffee club.. the triple choc thingy was simply heavenly.. oh and saw junxiang (surprisingly i could recognise him and vice versa) and his friends. him n later kevin tried to get bain n i to go for nbs bash but nah, really dont feel like clubbing.. kinda sian of the whole thing.

met yvonne today to supposedly do some shopping n we ran into edwin, wein n jz so we all went shopping for some stuff together. met shihui for a while too.. great to see them! oh yeah btw.. thanx edwin, for intro-ing death cab for cutie to me.. they're very good! more to come okies?


been chionging driving these few days.. really hope to pass driving test at my first try. although i know i'm not that good at driving and have been mentally preparing myself that i could really fail this thing, but still, i harbour some hope that i will pass..

patron's day is over and campus radio is launched!!!!!!


yesterday was just a blast! uhm, after bgs and the meetings tt is. the whole multi cultural segment went well despite president nathan taking his time hence our programme sorta ended early. and groove@469 was ultra rocking! from emix to the breakers to jetlaxx, muggerfunkers, scarlett, cd pro 2s and guitarissimo.. they were all great! and now electrico's "i want u" and franz ferdinand's "take me out" are stuck in my head.. i say you don't know, you say you don't know, i say..... TAKE ME OUT!! and when you come home baby, you just look back and say.. I WANT YOU!!!


and i love the post-event celebrations..
kevyn's speech, ewan's thank-you speech in which every single BE member got memtioned (i'm always marvelled by ewan's ability to remember everyone) and zhizai's uhm, speech also.. then we had champagne and a little bailey's and everyone toasted like crazy.. then we went down to play with the fire sparklers thingy while they were giving away the lucky draws.. it was just great fun and everyone were in super high spirits! like uhm, can u imagine people from 19 to 23 (and possibly even 25 yrs old) forming a human train and running and screaming all over the place. LOL.


campus radio is finally launched, peeps. to listen to it, simply log on to oasis via intranet, scroll down and click on the campus radio icon!



on a more sober note, i have both MA and biz law tmr. helps.
i really needa catch up with my studies. have neglected it for the whole of january man!

i'm in a colourful sorta mood today so every name that's mentioned will be in colour!


ok firstly we've settled what we're gonna do for our bgs major project - slimming and health supplements pills. asked a lot of ppl for advice but must really thank JONNY da man who gave lots of great advice on how to get into a certain prof's good books lol. he even offered to help us in our porject! and also, >JZ for offering to send me his bgs report for reference. what nice friends i have hahaha..


went for fitting on tues and wed at candle for tush with denise. no we're not the ones fitting. we were just overseeing the whole process. our tush models are all tall thin n pretty. i feel so out of place lol. i'm like the exact opp or sth la. and guess who're the ntu models? julin yeo and michelle ang. is the world small or what?


had some talks with some people these past few days, notably ln and huiying (separately la). hmmm ok la. nice talking to them..
and i realised that some guys tend to be honest with me. overly honest sometimes. not naming anyone la. it gets a bit sensitive i think. it's all good i guess but sometimes, dont u think i dont need SO much information? hmmm think about it k.


and abt campus radio launch.. turns out WEILIANG and VICTOR are part of the "security officers" (read: bodyguards) for sly and taufik! haha. its time to bribe weiliang into helping me take pictures of sly and taufik so that i can maybe sell them for money to those crazy fanatics out there. lol.



these few days have been relatively peaceful and quiet esp in the nites. which is good i guess. i really need to catch up on my sleep. SOME PEOPLE have been commenting that i am getting eyebags. eeks.

it's a soccerful weekend!!


went to the open field thingy outside carlton hotel to watch soccer with ray, edmund, LN and anna after BE meeting yday.. the place is great! great atmosphere! and MAN UTD BEAT LIVERPOOL!! edmund n i were so happy!! we were sitting in front of some liverpool fans, which made victory all the more sweeter! after wes brown got sent off, our hearts were literally in our mouths whenever pool gets a corner or a free kick near the box. but man utd's defense was solid last nite.. keane n scholes gave magnificent performances! =)


went to watch tiger cup finals today with kevin.. then ran into dingyi and russell by accident, and with them, kevin kong, ben tung etc etc.. and by coincidence, anna! and a whole gang of smu peeps.. then LN and edmund came, and eventually huiying n sa'idah came too! lol. the atmosphere there is great! and singapore won 2-1 thanks to indra and an agu casmir penalty! and singapore is the tiger cup 2004 champs!! yay!
thenwent for dinner/supper with the 3 of them and kevin at geylang.. the food was real nice too! thanks for the company, all of u! its a GREAT weekend!!

found a new grp mate for AS! this da bao kia called terence. heh heh im so mean. but i thank the heavens its not the initial guy. i'd take terence thank u. accompanied yenshan to lunch and talked to her.. she's really quite nice to talk to. candid and honest.

met kel to do a bit of cny shopping, which is rather successful i guess cos i managed to buy yet another skirt n a top.. then we went for hi/lo which almost got me killed. but its great all the same.


im tired tired tired but im kinda loving it. its true, what they say abt smu students - not for f***, but for passion. (heh i'm keeping my resolution of not swearing)

i got my bgs grp! yay.. there's me, claire, siying, andy and alvin. there's this spanish exchange student called vincent who joined us for a while. but he decided to drop BGS. what a pity. caroline liked him at first instant man. hohoho..

yeah apparently LN told huiying something which prompted her to question me about something else. hahaha. so we started talking in the car. realised i havent been telling her much since the hols started. but its all good.. it feels good.

today started out well enough. i had to wake up against my will despite the fantabulous weather for sleeping. then i heard a song i havent hear in a loooong time. the bus came right when i reached the bus stop. meeting went ok. wasnt late for MA. didnt fall asleep for MA too. and had a very nice evening indeed. =) and the modem is kinda working in my favour tonite.

there is murphy's law for all things that can go wrong. is there a law for the opposite? lol.

met up with tianhao today.. its nice hanging out with him again.. no this time never chat for 8 hours lol. more like 5 hours. ok yeah managed to buy a belt and a pair of shades. hahaha cos we agreed the shades goes well with my uhm, hair colour!

prof kta told such a jaw-dropping "joke" in MA class today that i was amazed.
kta: in managerial accounting, people are the most important assets. but are they recorded and included as "assets"? NO. that is why MA is like a woman in bikini. the parts that they show - important. the parts that they cover - vital."
my jaw just dropped. my goodness. i do not know whether to classify this as an LC joke or not.

programming meeting was so so. managed to squeeze a little creative brain juice outta my tired mind to come up with much-needed ideas.

my mind is in a mess now. some things i wanna say, but i dont say it here cos i don't really want some people to know about it. doesn't really help that i'm not sure of some issues myself.
but yeah, my mind is so disorganised now. so many things all coming up together. i dont know to give which one priority. yv, your first-priority theory fails liao. hohoho. shucks i seem to think its still christmas eh.
for once, i kinda hope i have nothing on this saturday. but as it is, i do. another time then.

hmmm biz law is interesting.. cos i'm taking it with ppl i'm familiar with. its so great seeing the whole bunch of them again! and my biz law project grp is like, girl power! me, huiwen, valerie, pearlyn and sheryl. hahaa. there's a jap exchange student and an ntu local exchange student in my biz law class!

okies here i wanna say thank you to sue ann for offering to help me find a bgs group. i really appreciate and am touched by your kind gesture. thanks gal.

OH YES my driving practical test is on valentines day monday 14 feb! and it clashes with caroline yeoh's class. hahaaaa. i dont even know whether to be happy or not! its an easy date to remember huh. cross ya fingers real hard for me peeps, i'm gonna need a lot of luck i think.

and i wanna say thanks to someone for being there thru'out the past week. be it listen to my whinings, my musings, my crappings.. thanks a lot kevin. u've been a darling and i appreciate it a lot too!

Happy 2005!!!

2004 has come and gone, its time for 2005.. blah blah.

spent new year's eve with a whole bunch of ppl i dont really know. oh well i only know the girls who all happen to be from my batch in vj - bain, hongyi, shalynn, erin and rina. and the guys from nus/ntu - james, larry, stanley, ck, shane, trevor and jame's brother. it was alrite. kinda fun but not fantastically fun. the forfeits were hilarious though. are they what nus and ntu peeps do during their orientation? its madness!
but anw, still have to thank them for making it a rather interesting ny 'celebration'.

ok now to sth else. something's stuck in my mind and i cant forget it. not that i tried very hard thou hahaha.

i dont want school to start!!

yeah, sure do hope 2005 will be a good year to come
