just some very brief updates- I'M IN EUROPE NOW!

in Edinburgh to be exact. Flew to London last tuesday night, packing was a bitch, that's why didn't have time to blog b4 i flew. Flight wasn't too good for me, I couldn't sleep properly. London is great, I like it after a few hours there.

We spent the first day in London with no accommodation cos we were due to catch a night bus out to Edinburgh that same day. Left our luggage at Su Sian's place, and wandered around London.

Edinburgh is GREAT! weather is VERY COLD!!! not much time to blog now cos i'm real tired, but here's an extract from the email i sent to my parents:

Edinburgh is in Scotland and they are famous for the bagpipes, kilts, pies and scotch whiskey!

Because Edinburgh is on high altitude, it is very cold. In the day, about 15deg, at nite can go down to about 10deg. VERY COLD. The sun rises everyday at about 6am I think. Today I woke up at 6.30am and it's already very bright. The sun sets very late today, usually about 8+pm. Today I was on the bus back to hostel at 9pm and the sun was just beginning to set!

Edinburgh is also very very nice. the view is very nice. Instead of normal tar roads in Singapore, some parts of the roads are made of cobbles. So it's quite uneven, and when the bus go by, the whole bus will shake hahaa.

Now it is the Edinburgh International Festival, it's an arts and cultural event. For the past few days, Huiying and I have been watching shows and performances, plus shopping and visiting some attractions. Like today, we went to catch this music piece called "Binari", a drums show by some Koreans. They are really very good. Shopping here not too good, very expensive!

We also went to visit this old underground city in Edinburgh (St. Mary's Close) and today we went on a free tour. The guide was very good, he told us a lot abt Edinburgh history. Very interesting! Tomorrow, we are going on a day tour to the Scottish highlands, should have excellent view as well!

Things in the UK really very expensive, normally 1 meal cost abt 3 pounds, which is abt S$10. Luckily our hostel provides free breakfast so every morning, we will eat cornflakes and save the bread for lunch. Or take an extra box of cereals. Haha cheapo I know! Dinner we will go supermarket to buy and then go back to hostel to cook. Really save a lot of money!

Hostel is very safe, clean and has a nice view. We sleep very well at nite also. Just that weather very cold, everyday also don feel like bathing ah!

Last nite, we went to do laundry. Here, use washing machine costs 1.5pounds (S$4.50), dryer costs 1.5pounds(S$4.50) n the washing powder packet cost 0.4pounds(S$1.20). So we hand wash everything, and shared a dryer to save money. hahhaa. Very tiring man!

The usb ports are not available for use so I can't upload photos. Another time then.

Aites gotta go! tmr will be quite a long day!
